Despite holding a degree in Graphic Design, Alan has spent most of his career involved in the strategic side of marketing communications, completing an MSc in Strategic Marketing along the way. The first 10 years of his career were spent client-side, where he was Head of Marketing, managing a team engaged in brand development, corporate communications and digital communications.
Alan moved to the agency world in 1998 as an Account Director working across a range of major clients including British Airways and Sainsbury’s, being predominantly focused on editorially driven projects, including loyalty magazines.
Alan co-founded Luminous in 2002 and as Managing Partner has steered it to being one of the UK’s most respected agencies. He loves to get to the heart of company stories and to build lasting peer-to-peer relationships with clients. Recent clients include Grainger, SportPesa and Nestlé Skin Health, where his input has helped develop the communications strategy and a persuasive corporate narrative.
Sport, musicals and weekends in the Languedoc. Born in Liverpool, he is a passionate Everton Toffee. He is a former marketing board member of Investors in People UK and a Founder Member of Harperbury Free School.
