PPHE Hotel Group
Regulation and style
A key piece of guidance we are asked to provide to clients at the beginning of the Annual Report planning process is demonstrating what best practice looks like in corporate reporting. And in a year when companies were required to report for the first time against the 2018 Corporate Governance Code as well as other new regulations, this was a particularly important element of our strategic communications advice.
For hotel Group PPHE, this was a priority in a year when the company had transferred to a Premium Listing on the London Stock Exchange and become a member of the FTSE 250.
We began the content development process with an audit of the prior year’s Annual Report to highlight where new content was required in order to achieve regulatory compliance. We worked hard to ensure that the design worked hand in hand with the content, with new graphics designed to highlight PPHE’s strongly differentiated market position afforded by its integrated owner-operator business model. The model was evolved to emphasise the Group’s purpose, strong content was developed to evidence the Group’s record in stakeholder engagement and ESG, and a Section 172 statement was included, reflecting PPHE’s clear commitment to best practice.
2019 marked PPHE’s 30th year in business and the company was keen to celebrate both the operational achievements over that period and the significant value created for shareholders and wider stakeholders. With the business also coming to the end of a period of investment and improvements across all its hotels, the Report utilised case studies to proudly showcase its key real estate assets.
