Our multi channel suite for the launch of Google’s Digital News Innovation Fund Report 2018 included online content and graphics, animations, printed report, supporting collateral and a bank of social media graphics.
The DNI Fund is a €150 million funding programme that Google run to support innovation and growth in the news industry across Europe. Our challenge was to simplify content and create a cross-plaform experience which brought to life the impacts that the Fund has had for society.
Our writer interviewed 20 of the projects that have received funding, and developed stories highlighting the meaningful actions being taken to help journalism keep up with new trends, challenges and reader habits. The narrative generated was presented in 4 themes – Battling Misinformation, Telling Local Stories, Boosting Digital Revenues and Exploring New Technologies.
Creatively we adopted a simple, Googleish (that’s a thing!) style using infographics, stats and icons to pull out facts and quotes. We supplied a toolkit of animations, graphics, images and quotes for each story to help the online content reflect the simple, scannable style of our printed edition.
