A social purpose with energy

A corporate website provides a great opportunity for a company to highlight how it is contributing to wider society beyond its responsibility to its employees and shareholders. Genel has an impressive list of highlights that illustrates the good it does for communities as well as the way it minimises its impact on the environment. The challenge for Luminous was to create a clean and fresh digital presence that surfaced this important content.

Genel is an independent oil and gas exploration and production company, with low-cost and low-carbon production from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

They are a major operator in the region and the previous website didn’t convey its growth story or approach to sustainable business. We created a site that got to the heart of Genel’s story with clear messaging, and was also easily navigable, interactive and scalable.

The website clearly highlights Genel’s environmental and social contribution highlighting the businesses investment in 267 social and community projects over the last 20 years. The use of interactive maps and case studies with key statistics makes the content easy to digest for the skim reader. So you can learn quite a bit about the business in a minimal number of clicks.

We built the site using a modular approach with structured building blocks providing a flexible framework. This, combined with a WordPress CMS, gave the client a quick and easy way to add and modify pages and content going forward.
